  • Meet the Team (Part 6) – Gangnam Style and Albert Einstein?!

Welcome to our next ‘Meet the Team’ and this time it is the turn of Ankita, who is a fantastic member of our team from our Friday afternoon classes and Sunday morning Lode Heath sessions, to answer the questions…

    1) What is your favourite sport?

My favourite sports are Cricket and Athletics.

    2) What makes you laugh the most?

When I watch Tom and Jerry and my daughter’s silly jokes.

    3) What is your favourite and your worst food?

My favourite is pizza and fruit salad. Worst, I don’t know! As I like almost everything, as long it is veggie.

    4) What song would you sing at karaoke?

I would sing Gangnam Style and Fast Food Rockers.

    5) If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?

If I were a superhero, I would want the power to help our planet. I want this power to stop global warming and make a brighter future for our children. The second power is to fly so I could reach anywhere in any time.

    6) What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like listening to music and dance.

    7) What 3 people, living or dead, would you invite to dinner?

David Cameron, Albert Einstein- as he was a maths genius so he can teach me some maths tricks, and Leonardo DiCaprio. I am die hard fan of him.

    8) Tell us a bit about yourself…

I am Ankita a mother of two lovely children and I live in Solihull. I started my journey in a school as a office assistant. I worked almost 3 yrs in a infant school. I like working with children as their talks and smile make me feel happy and cherished. Recently I have finished an IT course from Solihull college. I like painting and dance. I am planning to take Drumming Classes, so soon you will see me playing my favourite instrument.

    9) Why did you want to work for Leapfrog Sports and what do you enjoy the most about working for Leapfrog Sports?

Since childhood, I was interested in sports. So when this opportunity came, I thought this is what I enjoy the most, and where I could give my best. I really enjoy working with Leapfrog Sports. The way it has been designed, it helps to maintain children’s physical and mental balance, it improves their concentration level and memory and it helps children grow and succeed in their everyday lives and in the future. I am so thankful to Jo for giving me this opportunity and Amanda who has been very nice and supportive. I feel lucky to be part of Leapfrog Sports.

Next week we have some really exciting news that I will be sharing and something that I will need everyone’s help with!!

    Have a great week,

    Jo

  • It’s been a long time!

    Hi Everyone

I know it has been ages since I last wrote a blog but the time just seems to fly and before I know it, we are back to the next week!

So Leapfrog is continuing to grow and we are beginning to work with more schools and nurseries, where we can help them achieve their OFSTED requirements. We will be beginning to promote this to more early years providers, so if you work for one or know anyone that might be interested then please pass on my details!

We are also having a revamp with our uniforms! We love the yellow children’s t-shirts so much that we have decided to wear the same. They are being delivered this week and so you should see us wearing them in class very soon!

The final thing to let you know is that we are beginning a new mixed age Sunday morning class in Wythall Park at 11.30am, so if you’d prefer a lie in or know someone who would like to come along- let them know!

Ankita has recently joined the team, you may have seen her at the Friday afternoon and Sunday morning sessions at Lode Heath. I’ll be sending her our ‘Getting to know you’ questions so look out for that soon!

  • Class changes & Summer fun!

    Hi,

It’s been a couple of weeks since I last wrote the blog but we have been busy at Leapfrog Sports! We have been doing special nursery sessions and I’m pleased to say that as they were enjoyed so much we will be running a weekly session from now on. We’ve also been going over to a summer holiday club in Warwick and running some sessions there, we’ve had birthday parties (with another 4 to go over the summer!) and on top of all this our special Summer Sessions – to say we’ve been busy would be an understatement!

We also have planning sessions arranged so we can plan out the next year of lessons – if you have any favourite games and activities that you have done, or you think would work well, then please let us know as we will try and incorporate these into the schedule.

You may also have seen us in the newspaper? We have some adverts running at the moment and the Observer ran a small article on us (on our facebook page if you are interested) so look out for those.

We are making some changes to our weekly classes and introducing some ‘pay as you go’ classes too, these will be running on Thursday mornings in Solihull and Sunday mornings in Wythall. Details to follow soon.

So, if you are interested in our Summer Sessions, we’d love you to join us and also if you are having a birthday party and want something a bit different, then please contact us as we’d love to celebrate with you and make sure you get your date before we get booked up!

  • Meet the Team (Part 5) – Katy Perry and Psychic Powers?!

    Hi Everyone

It seems a while since I last wrote this but I’ve been busy working away, planning things to try to keep improving Leapfrog Sports. So, what have we been doing? We are busy planning our school events which are beginning now and the parties which are really starting to book up. I’m also going to be running a short session at St Margaret’s School (Richmond Road, Olton) on Saturday as their Summer Garden party theme is sport. Also look out for us at the Shirley Carnival in July and the Wythall Carnival in August (I’ll have a stand and be dressed up in fancy dress to fit in with their themes!)

In the classes over the next week we’ll be asking if you are returning to classes in September (where is the year going?!) and also gauging interest about us running some special classes over the summer – so let us know if that is something you’d like.

In the meantime, Kelly is the latest member of our team. She has been with us for a month and works mainly on Sunday mornings in Wythall but can also be seen some Thursday mornings at St Mary’s. As with all members of the team, I’ve asked her the tricky questions…

    1) What is your favourite sport?

I like to play and watch all sports but my favourite is Basketball.

    2) What makes you laugh the most?

Funny comments and conversations that children have with each other and the questions they ask! I also laugh when adults have silly minor accidents like walking into things or tripping over something.

    3) What is your favourite and your worst food?

I practically like any food but my favourite is Chinese food and my worst is sprouts.

    4) What song would you sing at karaoke?

I love singing although I am not very good at it as my children tell me! I always listen to music on the radio or songs from my phone in the car and sing along. I also enjoy competing against my friends on the game SingStar on the Wii U. I usually pick songs by Madonna or Katy Perry.

    5) If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?

I would like to have psychic powers to be able to predict the future, as I love to plan and know what people are going to do or what they are thinking.

    6) What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy swimming, meeting up with friends and family to eat and drink. I also spend a lot of time helping others whenever I can and I am an active member of the Parent, Teacher Association at my children’s school.

    7) What 3 people, living or dead, would you invite to dinner?

I would invite Michael J Fox and Tom Cruise, maybe Tom could teach/make me some cocktails! Whitney Houston as she was an amazing singer/song writer.

    8) Tell us a bit about yourself…

I am married to Chris and have two children; Abigail aged 11 and Michael aged 8. I have worked for the NHS since 1994 and for the past 2 years I have volunteered as a classroom assistant at an infant and junior school whilst studying on my teaching assistant course. In April I gained my Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and would like to work in this type of role in the future.

    9) Why did you want to work for Leapfrog Sports and what do you enjoy the most about working for Leapfrog Sports?

I have always wanted to work with children and when this opportunity came along I thought it is a really good way of expanding my experience of working with children combined with sports, which is what I enjoy. Although, I have only been with Leapfrog Sports for a short time I really love this job as I feel I am helping to give young children the experience of learning skills they need in life and when they start school. Leapfrog Sports programme is designed to give children and parents the opportunity to learn all sports in a fun and interactive way. I am so grateful to Jo for giving me this opportunity and I have enjoyed meeting and working with new people like Amanda and Dexter.

Thank you Kelly – It’s great to have you on the team!

    Jo

  • News update and future plans…

    Hi Everyone,

So what have we been up to at Leapfrog Sports? Firstly, we have a new class assistant – Kelly has joined the team and will be working in Wythall on Sunday mornings and you will also see her at St Mary’s during the week. It’s great to have her on board! I will be posing the same questions to her soon so you can learn more about her, so look out for that.

In other news, we are also going to be holding some special classes at a school in Solihull and also at a holiday club which is held over the summer. If anyone does know of anywhere that would like us to go along to hold a class, just let me know.

We are also going to be going along to some of the local carnivals, in Shirley and in Wythall to spread the word about us – so look out for us there as there are still loads of people that haven’t heard about us and we want to get better known.

Lastly, for the last class in the Summer term, we are looking at holding a special ‘End of Term Awards Party’ to celebrate everything that the children have achieved over the year and at the same time try to raise some money for a deserving charity – watch out for more details on this or if you have any links to sports clubs who may want to come along and ‘coach’ a small activity let us know.

That’s it for this week – we’ll see you in the classes!

    Jo
